We received a letter from this company stating that my domain name was about to expire on April 6th, 5 months from now. It claimed that I was at risk of losing my domain name if I didn’t renew my domain. However, if you read closely thought it says that you should renew by switching and at the bottom, the victim could enter their credit card information. The cost was more than double the norm at 40$ a year. Wow!
I called them to see what the deal was and the guy at the end (yeah their 1-800 number still works as of Nov 18. 2015.) was ready, asking me to read the letter carefully. I stated that I did and that this was a phishing scheme, trying to fool people into switching.I finished by telling him that we would report them. They hung up on me at this point.
